“Walk A Mile In My Shoes” Halloween Campaign
“The latest federal estimate Canada’s true homeless population, not just those living in emergency shelters, to be between 200,000 and 300,000. It is estimated that roughly 65,000 young people are homeless or living in homeless shelters throughout the country”
I started this campaign 2 years called “Walk A Mile In My Shoes” aimed at raising awareness of homelessness around the city of Toronto during Halloween. Every Halloween I dress up as a homeless guy and ‘walk a mile in their shoes’ for a good cause. This year I had 3 wonderful and courageous volunteers join me to raise money for a homeless shelter. Last year I raised $646.36 for Realtors Care Foundation, this year was no different. We were about to raise $545.28 for the Realtors Care Foundation. We also donated $150.00 directly to 3 homeless guys we saw on the streets. A real big special shout out to all my colleagues at 411.ca that generously supported the cause and donated to make a difference. The Realtors Care Foundation supports shelter based charitable organizations across Ontario. It was a productive and profitable weekend which included an act of selfless human kindness. Join me next year and make a difference.
